An app password is a code that gives an app or device permission to access your Office 365 account.
Scouts NSW has turned on multi-factor authentication, and if you are using apps that connect to your Office 365 account, you'll need to generate an app password so the app can connect to Office 365. For example, if you're using Outlook 2016 or earlier with Office 365, you'll need to create an app password.
To create an app password
- Log on to your Scouts NSW email account at office.com
- From the home screen, click on your initials or photo in the top righthand corner
- Click on My account
- Click on Manage security & privacy
- Click on Additional security verification
- Click on Create and manager app passwords
- This will open up another window for you to add / delete app passwords.
- Here you can create a password / delete a pass
- Create, click on create
- Give the password a name eg IOS Device, click next
- A screen will generate a password which you need to copy and store.
This password cannot be recovered if you lose it.
- Delete a password
- Find the password you want to delete
- Press Delete
- Confirm you want to delete the password
- Find the password you want to delete
- Create, click on create
