The decision, as a part of the Strategic Plan, to roll out Scouts NSW email addresses to all adult members across the state holding key leadership appointment as designated within ScoutLink is seen as an important step forward for Scouts NSW in meeting our organisation-wide compliance obligations around information and data security legislation, child protection laws and expectations, and centralised and managed communications. This is a key de-risking initiative of the Scouts NSW organisation and its members, through putting systems, processes, and protocols in place using a number of integrated technology solutions as facilitators to support meeting our legal and legislative obligations in broad range of areas. This includes the Scouts NSW commitment to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse that it would adopt and implement all of the commission’s recommendations, many of them technology related.
Scouts email recipients will also be provided with access to a suite of Microsoft Office 365 Online tools and applications that can be used to improve productivity, collaboration, and secure file and document sharing and management across all levels of the Scouts NSW organisation. These tools and applications will assist in supporting individual Scout Groups through to region offices in managing the day-to-day business and operations of Scouting and will enable efficiency improvements in areas such member management and compliance.
